The Shenandoah Valley Soil & Water Conservation District (SVSWCD) is a political subdivision of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The SVSWCD works with various federal, state, and local agencies to provide technical assistance and promote natural resource conservation. The SVSWCD serves Page County, Rockingham County, and the City of Harrisonburg. Programs are administered by SVSWCD staff under the supervision of the District Manager and the Board of Directors. The Board consists of six locally elected members and two appointed members.

The SVSWCD receives funding from various sources including local, state and federal entities. Funding from all three sources is utilized to support SVSWCD operational expenses including staff salaries, supplies, equipment, and other essential operating costs. The SVSWCD coordinates and administers a variety of activities encompassing many aspects of natural resource conservation. Not only is operational funding essential to the SVSWCD’s programs, activities and services, but is also vital to implementing conservation practices.
