General

The District owns and operates 8 flood control structures (dams) in Rockingham County. An additional 3 dams are owned and operated by their associated localities.

In an effort to comply with state dam safety regulations, annual owner’s inspections are conducted and routine maintenance performed.

The District works with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), the U.S. Forest Service, Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), and other cooperating agencies to ensure the safety of our local watersheds.
