Conservation District Technical Assistant
The Shenandoah Valley Soil & Water Conservation District (SVSWCD) has an opening for a full time District Technical Assistant. The Technical Assistant is responsible for performing a wide range of administrative and technical duties that pertain to the implementation of the SVSWCD’s activities, services and programs. The position will focus on providing administrative support to include data entry, filing, file management, and other associated programmatic documentation. In addition, the position will require some technical support including occasional outdoor work in agricultural fields.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license and proficient computer skills. Requirements for the positions include: proficiency in Microsoft Office, the ability to work independently and in a team environment, multitask, prioritize, be a self-starter, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The ideal applicant will also have knowledge and experience in areas of non-point source pollution control activities, agricultural operations, soil and water conservation issues, and agricultural best management practices. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a federal background check. Hiring range: $25,000-$31,000 commensurate with experience and abilities and full benefits package.
