The Shenandoah Valley Soil & Water Conservation District (SVSWCD) has an opening for a temporary part-time (16-28 hours a week) District Assistant. The District Assistant is responsible for performing a wide range of duties that pertain to the implementation of the SVSWCD’s activities, services and programs. The position will focus on providing administrative support to include data entry, filing, file management, and other associated programmatic documentation. In addition, the position may require some technical support including occasional outdoor work in agricultural fields.
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license and proficient computer skills. Requirements for the positions include: proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, the ability to work independently and in a team environment, multitask, prioritize, be a self-starter, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The ideal applicant will also have knowledge of non-point source pollution control activities, agricultural operations, soil and water conservation issues, and agricultural best management practices. The position is considered a term position starting around 7/17/17 for a period of 12-18 months expiring 12/31/18. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a federal background check. Hiring range: $9.50 – $12.50/hour commensurate with experience and abilities.
