Annually, the Shenandoah Valley SWCD provides educational scholarships to students interested in furthering their education in a field related to natural resources.
The Shenandoah Valley Soil & Water Conservation District Scholarship guidelines/criteria allow full-time students who have applied to a college undergraduate level curriculum to apply for the SVCD Scholarship Program. These scholarships are offered to graduating high school students as well as college students. Preference may be given to applicants who have not previously received a SVCD scholarship.
Recipients are selected based on various criteria including: academic achievement, school and community involvement, interest in natural resources conservation, as well as financial need.
The District also screens applications and selects one application to forward on to the Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (VASWCD) for consideration for one of the available VASWCD Educational Foundation, Inc. Scholarships.
To apply; read the scholarship announcement below and return the application to the Shenandoah Valley SWCD office by March 9, 2018:
- To promote the education of Virginia citizens in technical fields associated with natural resource conservation and environmental protection.
- To give financial support to students majoring in or showing a strong desire to major in a course curriculum related to natural resource conservation and/or environmental studies.
