Scholarship Opportunities
Each year, the Shenandoah Valley Soil and Water Conservation District provides educational scholarships to students interested in furthering their education in a field related to natural resources.
Full-time students who have applied to a college undergraduate curriculum are eligible to apply for the SVSWCD Scholarship Program. These scholarships are offered to graduating high school students as well as college students. Preference may be given to applicants who have not previously received an SVSWCD scholarship.
Recipients are selected based on criteria including academic achievement, school and community involvement, interest in natural resources conservation, and financial need.
The District also selects one application to forward to the Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (VASWCD) for consideration for a VASWCD Educational Foundation, Inc., Scholarship.
The application period for 2024 scholarships has closed.
Purpose:
- To promote the education of Virginia citizens in technical fields associated with natural resource conservation and environmental protection
- To give financial support to students majoring in or showing a strong desire to major in a course curriculum related to natural resource conservation and/or environmental studies
