Youth Conservation Camp

The Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts sponsors a week-long summer conservation camp each year for Virginia high school students (enrolled in grades 9-12 during the previous school year) on the campus of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va.

The program brings together interested students from around the state for a week of learning about Virginia’s natural resources from conservation professionals and Virginia Tech faculty. Most of the instruction is hands on and outdoors.

The Shenandoah Valley Soil and Water Conservation District generally sponsors two students from Rockingham County, Page County, and/or Harrisonburg who would like to attend the camp.

The application period for Youth Conservation Camp 2024 has closed.

PURPOSE:

  • To provide high school students interested in natural resources and conservation a fun and exciting week-long educational opportunity to attend a camp held at Virginia Tech
  • To give financial support to students showing a strong desire to attend camp
